PortalWall® with PortalFlow™

PortalSteel™ & PortalFlow™ part of the PortalWall® family, a family trying hard to remain cohesive and viable.

PortalSteel™ is positioned on the dry side of the exterior wall, serving a dual function as both structural reinforcement and an airflow promoter, PortalFlow™. Originally conceived and first built in my own home, the system enables controlled airflow—which can include warmed air—to elevate surface temperatures above the dew point.

This dynamic extends the mechanical boundary into the interstitial space, delivering a non-obvious performance benefit: it helps to elevate hidden surfaces above moisture thresholds, keeping them dry, reducing condensation risk, and ensuring that mold risks are substantially averted. Importantly, this is achieved **without losing any usable space—a premium in all zones—**preserving both design flexibility and efficiency.

These principles were first published in my USPTO filings and granted patent, Figure 9B, and carried forward in subsequent filings, where they remain fully documented.

Because PortalSteel™ remains on the dry side, the metal does not need to be painted, as the area is inherently protected. Still, in pursuit of added durability, I engaged Structural Processing, a long-time vendor I have worked with since the early stages of my career, to produce a mock-up sample with an additional painted coating layer. In fact, I have proof of when I engaged with Sherry Rosenblatt.

It was my own thought, intended to be my own initiative—not that of any licensee, or outside party—to further propose integrating anti-mold growth ingredients directly into the Structural Processing or any commercial painter. This enhancement can be incorporated without incurring added design costs, lab costs, thinking about it costs, fake invoices about time invested costs, it was a simple additional step, offering an extra safeguard while retaining the inherent simplicity of the system.

PortalSteel™ by PortalWall® demonstrates how thoughtful design—grounded in science and strengthened by trusted manufacturing partnerships—delivers structural resilience, air-driven performance, and healthier buildings.

CFD ANALYSIS

Why PortalWall® Makes Sense—Economically and Technically

The additional cost to implement PortalWall® is not in materials—it's in mindset. Exchanging just one part for another.

  • Cost-Neutral Design:
Integrating support structures with airflow openings does not increase cost. The base materials, panel geometry, and fastening approach remain fundamentally the same.

  • INFORM & EDUCATE, Not Expense:
The only real lift is educating architects and engineers to adopt a smarter, airflow-conscious design. Once understood, it becomes standard practice—not an upcharge. WHO IS GOING TO ARGUE THAT PROMOTING AIR FLOW & EVAPORATION IS A POOR CHOICE.

  • Reduced Remediation Risk:
If failure ever occurs, PortalWall® makes it easier to repair and can include sensing strategies to catch it early. This drastically lowers remediation costs compared to conventional walls,  where moisture spreads unseen and uncontrolled.

  • Net Economic Win:
No added material costs. Lower lifecycle risks. Fewer liability claims. Fewer callbacks. Better warranties. It’s a smarter system at the same price point.
